Allen is a Canadian Chartered Accountant born and raised in Calgary. 

 

Allen graduated in 1989 from the University of Calgary and articled with Ernst & Young Calgary.  After obtaining his CA designation from CPA Alberta in 1994, Allen spent nearly 2 decades working in the emerging markets of Kazakhstan, Qatar, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey & UAE in senior finance roles with the World Bank, Deloitte, Integra Group and Qatar Solar.

Since 2018, Allen has been an advisor to both tech and non-tech startups: he has recorded over 330 podcast episodes; he has made nearly 2,800 posts on various social media platforms including LinkedIn (1800+), Instagram (600+), Twitter (350+) and Facebook (250+).  Allen has also written and published 22 articles around career advice on both LinkedIn and Medium

Finally, from May 2020, Allen commenced narration of audio books on the Amazon website referred to as ACX (part of Audible). A total of 20 have been published on Amazon with 1000+ unit sales to December 2022.
