It is natural for job seekers to request others to provide them with job leads, to ask them to review their resume or to evaluate their LinkedIn profile. This is common whether a student seeking a summer role, a recent graduate starting their career, an individual seeking to make a job change or someone that is unemployed. In over 300+ career advice submissions on LinkedIn, my approach has been to focus on an individual’s long-term career by reviewing their education, their work experience, their city or country, their interest and hobbies and seek to outline suggestions that are specific to their situation. This could include relevant technology, recent funding announcements in their sector (biosciences, art or construction) or setting up an AngelList profile.
